Do you know if the Nemo 100 domes are pressed with a male plug?

>> Yes, od. Abt. 660 mm. My mould is for 610 mm (24”) od. Still have no oven;-(

Also they sent me a pdf 2 years ago with a diagram of a dome showing a very shallow flange.

Are they milling off most of the flange to eliminate the curve of the heel?

>> very material efficiënt as the material slides in. I always machine the flange completely as this will give the least stress at the seat surface.

Alan,

 

1 kg for 8 man hours is the “best case scenario” We calculated with 1 kg for 4 man hours

The Scrubber, oxygen and battery is designed for a day use  so 4 x 8 Kg / 3 persons is abt. 11 hours (8 hours for 4 persons)

Oxygen and Sodalime are stored separate for 72H emergency.

For filling you take the canister outside the sub in order to avoid dust and pellets in the bilge..

 

The certification institutes say  that there must be a backup scrubber that also function with a loss of electric Power.

This is solved In the Eurosub/Javasub by a personal manual breath tru canister (approx 1 Kg )

In a properly packed and well designed canister, approximately 100 grams of Sodasorb absorbent will absorb 15
liters of carbon dioxide (CO2) before the concentration of CO2 in the exit gas exceeds 1%, although clinical CO2
breakthrough is 0.5%.  This assumes that there is no significant amount of channeling through the soda lime.  For 8-
hour capacity, therefore, a canister should hold approximately 1 kilogram ( 2.2 pounds ) of Sodasorb absorbent.

For emergency 72 hrs this would equate to 9 kilo grams.

I have heard of people making canisters that they can drop in to the scrubber when required. Wouldn't it be better to

have something like that with a 1 kilo gram / 8hr capacity & then either put a new canister in if required, or just chuck

out the old stuff & pour in some new. You could just throw out what remains at the end of the dive.

Safety wise, if you had 9 kg of absorbent in a large scrubber & it became too wet & useless then you would have all

your eggs in one basket.

Deep Worker has 2 scrubbers, maybe better 2 small scrubbers than one big one.

Wonder what Carsten the submarine certifyers rule book says?

Hi,

 

I got several request for my scrubber (kit) to be used in a K 350 sub.

My scrubber is designed for a 3-4 person sub and quite large and heavy ( 8,5 Kg / 18 Lbs Co2 absorbent )

I consider to manufacture a serie with a ID. Of 6”  to save space an ease handling.

 

-How much absorbent is recommended for a K350??

-more people interested?  Building kit with acrylic tube, radial fan and al machined parts will cost abt. Euro 250,-
