Navantia ya ha completado un tercio de la construcción de los cuatro S-80

(Infodefensa.com) G. Soriano, Cartagena - Dentro de exactamente un año Navantia prevé botar el primero de los S-80 que le encargó la Armada española. Para el siguiente submarino habrá que esperar casi dos años más. Sin embargo, en el astillero de la compañía en Cartagena ya se ven secciones de los cuatro buques que conforman un tercio del total de la fabricación y serán sucesivamente entregados hasta completar el pedido en el año 2019.

El jefe de Programa del S-80, Donato Martínez, ha detallado a Infodefensa.com en las atarazanas donde se construyen estos sumergibles que la ejecución del primero de ellos, “el S-81 está ahora mismo en el 58% de avance, teniendo en cuenta que, lógicamente, el 100% es la entrega”.

“El segundo submarino está en el 38% de avance, el tercero -ha apuntado- en el 24%, y el último, en el 16%”. Por tanto, la construcción de las cuatro naves en conjunto ya ha alcanzado el 34% de su ejecución, lo que significa que acaba de superarse la tercera parte del total.

Tras algunos retrasos, el calendario actual del programa S-80 contempla la puesta a flote de la primera de las naves en mayo de 2013; la segunda se espera que toque el mar en marzo de 2015; la tercera, en septiembre de 2016, y la cuarta, en noviembre de 2018.

La entrega a la Armada se alargará entre un año y medio y cerca de dos años más para cada uno de ellos. Así, el S-81 se recibirá en marzo de 2015; el S-82, en noviembre de 2016; el S-83, en marzo de 2018, y el S-84 operará en la Marina militar española a partir de mayo de 2019.

Se trata de un periodo notablemente superior a los que se emplearon en cada submarino Scorpene, para los que “tardamos unos doce o trece meses en hacer las pruebas”, apunta Martínez.

El jefe de Programa del S-80 subraya que en el proceso de construcción de estos submarinos “el periodo que lleva más tiempo es el de pruebas del barco”, ya que en él “suele haber incidencias”. Por eso, añade, “hemos dotado prácticamente de dos años de pruebas al submarino, que es un tiempo razonable y prudente para cumplir los objetivos de plazo”.

Martínez recuerda que el S-80 es el primer submarino que diseña y construye íntegramente Navantia, “y además supone un salto tecnológico muy importante: va a ser el submarino convencional más avanzado que haya en el mundo”.

Actualmente, el astillero de Cartagena, donde el submarino S-73 Mistral de la Armada española está siendo sometido a una reparación general, está trabajando también en varias ofertas para Australia, India y Noruega. En este punto, y preguntado sobre los dos años de sequía en los que la empresa no ha formalizado ningún contrato de calado, Martínez apunta que este tipo de “programas de venta de armas tienen un proceso de maduración muy largo, por lo que es normal que se tarden varios años en firmar un contrato”.

“Los Scorpene, por ejemplo, han tardado todos ellos un tiempo de maduración hasta la firma de entre tres y cinco años”.

En otro momento de la conversación, Martínez recuerda además que los programas de submarinos “son más complejos que otro tipo de programas”.
