South Bay's notorious floating castle has been grounded by the San Diego Harbor Police.
The 1980s pleasure palace on San Diego Bay was towed yesterday to the Port District's 24th Street impound yard because the vessel does not meet port codes for seaworthiness, police said.
Last year, a port attorney predicted the castle would be towed because it does not meet new, tougher port laws for vessels anchored on the bay. Under the law, the vessel will be impounded for 30 days and, if not claimed, sunk or destroyed.
In the 1980s, the castle was a raucous playpen for parties that featured strippers as entertainment.
