Our oceans are the heart and lungs of our blue planet. They regulate our climate by, among other things, absorbing heat and carbon dioxide. But it is this natural mechanism that makes them so vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Rising carbon dioxide concentrations make water more acidic, and rising water temperatures threaten the habitat of countless fish and corals.
The biggest problem facing our seas is systematic overfishing. That's why it's important to buy only fish from local and sustainable fisheries. To give the seas a rest, it's best to give up fish altogether.
