Method 1: Import MS Outlook Express to Outlook 2016

If you are keen on using a free solution for converting DBX to PST files then you should use the DIY trick I’m sharing here. Microsoft Outlook provides a built-in Import feature which you need to use here. Follow the simple steps given below:

First, make sure the MS Outlook tool is closed then launch Microsoft Outlook on your system.

On the taskbar, click the File menu >Open>Import.

Go on the Import and Export Wizard then select Import Internet Mail and Addresses in the list. Then click Next to continue.

Moving On the Outlook Import Tool dialog box, select the option Outlook Express on the list. Also, check the “Import Mail” and/or “Import Address book” boxes given in front of you. Click Next to continue the process.

In the case you’ve checked the “Import Address Book” box, the Import Addresses dialog box will appear. Then you can click on any of these items from the given options:

Replace duplicates with items imported. Allow duplicates to be created. Do not import duplicate items

Finally, click Finish to start the process.

Method 2: Use the Windows Live Mail (WLM)

Step 1: This method involves downloading the Windows Live Mail. In Windows Vista, the program is available by default and if you’re using Windows 7 or 8, you can easily download the Windows Live Mail program from the Internet easily

Step 2: Import Outlook Express Mail to Windows Live Mail

Firstly we will open the WLM application

Then go to File>Import Messages.

Then select the “import” option from Outlook Express 6.

Find the folder with DBX files.

Select the folders that are needed to be migrated to WLM application

In the next step click on the Import button to convert DBX to Windows Live Mail.

Exit the Import Wizard.

Further to convert Outlook Express address book to Windows Live Mail (WLM), go to File>Import Windows Address Book.

Find the folder where the .wab file is saved.

Click on close the Import dialogue box to complete the process.

Step 3: Migrate WLM to Outlook 2016

Open the Windows Live Mail application on the system.

Click on File>Export and select Messages tab.

In the Export dialogue box, select the Microsoft Exchange tab.

Further, select the folders that need to be migrated from Windows Live Mail to PST File.

Now, close the Export wizard.

Step 4: Next step is to Import Windows Live Mail to Outlook 2016

Start by Opening the Outlook Mail client.

Click on File>Open and Export»Open Outlook Data File(.pst).

Find the folder where the WLM PST file is saved and click OK.

Now, this will import Outlook Express DBX to Outlook 2016 immediately.
