Just a little question, can anyone help.
I'm going to build a workshop measuring 5 x 6 meters.
I'm quite happy with what I'm building the walls and floor out of, but a flat roof is a question for me at the moment.
permitted construction and all this limits my roof height, so I don't want a flat roof to be too thick, but looking at floor tables, etc. This shows that I will most likely need 50x180 wood with a 400mm center if I'm going to complete the entire span in one go. that is, to support up to 1 kn.
My question is, can I double the beams and choose a smaller tree so that I have a little more room to maneuver?

I would keep the roof thick because it's gonna protect the building in the future.

A thick roof will take up too much space and the room will turn out to be uncomfy. I think the OP has to do what he described in the post and don't worry much. I've never been building a garden room but I suppose that his plan gonna work. Having enough space is important regardless of the building, especially if you wanna work there. I searched a bit on Reddit and found an interesting article at https://www.homegardenroom.com/shipping-container-garden-room/ with the description of shipping container garden room. I think the OP can learn some tips from the author. I think he can also find useful guides on youtube because a lot of people are currently obsessed with garden rooms.
