Organic is largely a marketing ploy now, more so than having any real value to the consumer looking for more naturally produced and grown products. If your really want a more natural product find a small farm or ranch supplied product at your local farmers market. Or ones that are grown by the Mennonites, Amish or from a large Jewish Kibbutz community. Also some of the smaller Halal farmers. Ask to see photos of exactly where they farm their chickens. If you see large chicken houses that are a block long or so, ask to see where they allow their chickens to free range
The pieces when cut up tend to be much smaller with smaller breasts as you see in the French Bresse chickens. When cooking these farm grown chickens you will have a chicken that actually taste like chickens not like the ones at the grocery store. The meat is stronger flavored and tends to be more tender as the chickens actually get exercise everyday.
Organic Chicken behrain for taste is utterly meaningless for all categories imagined. The large chicken growers are allowed to call taking chickens out in to a grass field in a cage where they can walk around for about 3 to 4 feet and peck at the grass and call that Free Range chicken. Nice but no cigar, not even close.
For real free range chickens which are expensive when you can find them at specific farmers markets where those small farmers grow and butcher their own chickens you will notice a difference immediately visually and when you cook them. The meat is pink, the skin is typically very white, and you will see virtually little or no fat under the skin unlike all grocery store chicken meat.
