Soderberg electrode pasteis a type of carbon electrode paste used in the production of aluminum. It is named after its inventor, Swedish engineer and metallurgist Karl Soderberg. The paste is a mixture of calcined anthracite coal, coal tar pitch, and other additives, which is extruded through a steel casing to form a continuous electrode. The electrode is then baked in situ in the cell to form a solid carbon electrode.
