Arusha national park day trip

I have a few extra days in Arusha after the safari in early September so I'm trying to arrange a day trip to Arusha National Park, which is not included in the main safari. I had 2 offers from travel companies that are both extortionate: one was $500 and the other was $650. I know it's not cheap, but does anyone know if it's possible to pick up a cheaper tour once you get there, say, by getting together with other travelers and/or arranging it directly with a local guide in Arusha?

 

Also, can anyone recommend any other worthwhile day trips from Arusha?

There's still hope for a cheaper option. When you arrive in Arusha, you can try connecting with fellow travelers and see if anyone's interested in sharing a tour. It's a great way to split the costs and make new friends along the way. You could also consider reaching out to local guides in Arusha directly.
