Evyap Port, located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul,Turkey, has purchased eight fully-electricrubber-tyred gantry cranes(RTG) , due to be delivered in March 2013.
These will be Konecranes’ first RTGs in Turkey powered by a bus bar system, which converts the cranes to fully electric operation, the company revealed yesterday.
The RTGs are equipped with network braking that will reduce energy consumption by up to 60 per cent and reduce local emissions by up to 95 per cent, the company stated. They will run on electricity drawn from the local grid and be equipped with a full-size diesel generator.
Each RTG crane in this delivery has a lifting capacity of 40t. They can stack one over six containers high and seven plus truck lane wide.
This is the third RTG order from Turkey, which Konecranes received last month. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.
“We are very proud that Evyap Port chose Konecranes when they decided to expand their existing fleet of RTGs,” said Kim Salvén, Konecranes’ sales manager for port cranes. “This is an important delivery. It will expand our fully-electric RTG fleet in Turkey to 13 units.”
