Modern automobiles are equipped with an array of sophisticated technologies designed to enhance safety and improve driving experiences. One such crucial component is the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and at the heart of this system lies the ABS sensor. ABS sensors play a vital role in preventing wheel lock-up during hard braking, thereby significantly improving a vehicle's stability and control.
The function of ABS Sensors:
ABS sensor, also known as wheel speed sensors or speed sensors, monitor the rotational speed of each wheel. They continuously relay this information to the ABS control module, which processes the data to determine if a wheel is on the verge of locking up during braking. If lock-up is imminent, the ABS system intervenes by modulating brake pressure to that specific wheel, preventing it from skidding and ensuring optimal traction. This real-time adjustment of braking pressure helps the driver maintain steering control even during emergency braking situations or on slippery surfaces.
