Initially built in the 9th century, theKavaledurga Fortis a historical monumentthat is located about 18 km from Thirthahalli in the Shimoga districtof the state of Karnataka.One of the popular temples here is the Shikhareshwara Temple, which has a sanctum sanctorum, a garbagriha and an entrance porch. The palace site within the fort has ornate basement of a large terraced structure. Currently, the fort is controlled by the Archaeological Survey of India.
