Life is funny. Like driving down an unfamiliar curvy road, you never know what's around the next bend.
Experience has led me to view this optimistically, and thru eyes of faith. "Smile at the universe and it will smile back" has been my credo.
Okay, that said, this I never expected around any turn. Me? A career in Television?
Yeah. Seems so.
I've once or twice here mentioned singer, songwriter, band leader and overall entertainer Johnny Ray. We met many, many years ago -- briefly -- but his is the type of personality one doesn't forget, and that first 'hello" is to this day like a photograph in my mind. And over the years I'd hear about Johnny -- his success playing Vegas and other such venues -Thus it was somewhat thrilling to me to get to really know Johnny over the last year or so. This due, not to a musical connection, but because he dug my writings -- my couple of times a week "My Thought for the Day" mental meanderings on Facebook and some of my other published writings.
Anyhow about two months ago Johnny PM'd me telling me about a brand new TV show he was creating.
Never one to close the door on "fate" I said I was interested and then yesterday, as his own studio work was about to start, he PM'd again and said 'how about now?'
The theme for my pieces is to be "It's Time to Get Real with Don Sucher"
Today I created my first "broadcast" (streaming really, to be technical) living column and even I was kind'a thrilled how it came out. One take! No paper or memorized script. Just an outline of ideas on paper if I needed them, (but in fact I didn't). Sitting in my own living room, talking to a camera as if it were an audience.
Yeah, I'm pumped. The producer was thrilled so why shouldn't I be?
But now? At age 73?
As it's been said, "it ain't over 'till it's over."
No date for the broadcast yet set, but Johnny Ray's own studio sessions start tomorrow and his production/publicity team is already hard at work.
Life's twists and turns can indeed be surprising and often lead us down unexpected paths. It's wonderful to hear that you're embracing this new opportunity with optimism and faith.A career in television sounds like an exciting adventure, especially with Johnny Ray's involvement. It's amazing how connections made many years ago can resurface and lead to such unique opportunities. If you ever found yourself in need of remote recruitment solutions or explored possibilities in this field, there are platforms that have valuable resources.Wishing you continued success in your television career, and remember, it's never too late to chase your dreams!
