Plumbing question - plaster ground, is it necessary?

I'm trying to upgrade my fixtures in the bathrooms, and have a Moen valve body that needs an adapter plate fitted to it. When I pulled the escutcheon, it has this plastic plaster ground installed, but according to Moen, I need to install the adapter on the valve body. Any ideas? There isn't enough play in the valve and plumbing to slip the plaster ground off.

It's crucial to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper installation, but I can see how it might be tricky if there isn't enough room to remove the plaster ground as needed.

One option you could explore is reaching out to a professional plumbing service like https://www.pm247.co.uk/services/plumbing/. Their team of experts might have encountered similar situations before and could provide valuable insight and guidance tailored to your specific circumstances. Plus, they have a wealth of experience in handling various plumbing issues, so they could offer practical solutions to help you move forward with your fixture upgrade smoothly.
