Sharp pain in left shoulder when breathing

So, there is a bit to unpack here. Let me start with a timeline:

January 13- I got COVID very bad but was out of state (in serious winter) and to take care of my mom after surgery. I got back home on the 20th and was still VERY sick. **while there, I noticed a sore feeling in my upper left bicep like I had received a tetanus shot. It came and went, but till today hasn’t completely gone away.

January 30- went to get tested, still positive and had an elevated by 144/96. Granted, I had been taking A LOT of cold medicine since the 10th and had just downed some before going in.

February 3- was able to go back to work but coughing was horrible. Almost to the point of throwing up. I had the cough for another 2-3 weeks.

Mar 7- woke up in terrible pain. It felt like a knife was going through my left shoulder. When I would take a deep breath, it was so painful. After a couple days the pain was no constant and I would only feel it when I took a deep breath. It was worse at night. I had a little bit of mobility issues and hit hurt when I pushed down in that area. Feels like rotator cuff?

Mar 14- went to instacare as today the pain was worse again. Look pressure normal 126/76, chest xray normal, shoulder xray- showed nothing. EKG- textbook perfect. So they sent me home with steroids and muscle relaxers.

I had a full cardio work up only a few months ago for heart palms, and it all came back great.

My thoughts are possible chostocondritis maybe, but I don’t feel too much pain in my sternum. Maybe a little on the left side. They did mention gallbladder too, but I haven’t had any pain there. So, to sum up- on and off soreness in bicep, sharp pain in shoulder when taking a deep breath and a little pain near collarbone area. Has anyone had this before? Would the test they gave be comprehensive enough to rule out anything “serious”? No other symptoms I can pinpoint at this time.

Hey there! It sounds like you've been through quite a journey with your shoulder pain. I can't imagine how tough it must have been dealing with COVID and then this sharp pain in your left shoulder.

From your description, it does seem like it could be related to your rotator cuff or possibly even chostocondritis. It's good that you've had some tests done, but it's understandable to still have concerns.

If you're ever in need of a shoulder specialist, I came across this resource for finding the right one in Richardson, TX: [www.kevinkrusemd.com/richardson-tx-shoulder-specialist/] It might be worth looking into for further evaluation and guidance on your condition.

Hang in there, and I hope you find relief soon!
