The nonlinear wave equation, draupner, impact on marine engineering, submarine yacht.
Since the Draupner Wave changed the marine engineering paradigma and we know now that Freak Waves of 30m breaking over ships in open ocean do exist, and satellite radar searches turned up a dozend of them in the first intent, it is clear that ALL offshore vessels and structures need to be built for being overwashed by such waves. To say it simple - the only safe design out there after Draupner is a SUBMARINE. We now know why shipping industry is loosing 1 ship per week under "unclear accident circumstances" on an average.
The cases of the Muenchen, The Bremen, and the Caledonian Star, open a new chapter in ship design.
