Designed by the same firm that created The Utter Inn, an underwater resort docked in the middle of a Swedish lake, Manta Resort’s floating addition is submerged thirteen feet beneath one of the Indian Ocean’s richest coral reefs. In addition to the underwater bedroom, the floating three-story structure also offers a rooftop deck, bathroom, and a lounge area at sea level. At night, underwater spotlights around the bedroom windows attract and illuminate the nighttime sea life, including octopi and stingrays.
Since its debut this month, only six lucky guests have had the opportunity to snag a night in the Underwater Room. The room costs $1,500 a night for a two-person stay, or $900 a night for singles.
