A college admission essay is not like an ordinary 500-word essay. It is about you. You have to write down about your qualities in a way that leaves a positive impression of the reader.

 

Your college admission essay should showcase your personality other than your academic grades. The professor reviewing your admission essay will not be interested in reading about your grades in it. He has your transcript for the same reason.

 

Write about yourself, about your qualities in your essay. Don’t try to explain everything about yourself in the essay. That is not possible to explain your life story in a few words.

 

 

Choose an event in your life. Create the base of your essay with that event and explain it in a way that it summarizes your personality.

 

Take a creative approach and highlight the events where you are the spotlight of the show. It is always recommended to share your personal stories and thoughts in the admission essay.

 

 

The sole purpose of your admission essay is to write about yourself other than your academic grades and achievements. Write down your story in a way that the reader is able to follow your story from the beginning to the end.

 

 

You have to practically prove your qualities, not just write about them. Write details about the event. Mention what were you doing over there or who were you interacting with? This will make your essay sound original and authentic.

 

Formal writing does not seem very personal. You want your reader to relate to and understand your personality. For that, your writing style should be personal enough that the person reviewing your application can understand your perspective.

 

 

Avoid using clichés in your writing. Don’t rely on such overused phrases. Your writing needs to be original.
