Sony Airpeak S1 Experience

Hey all, can't seem to find any forums or anyone talking about their experience with this drone. I thought I'd make a post and hopefully this goes out into the internet to others who are flying this currently.

So far my first unit from B&H was some sort of defective. Had a terrible shake when the legs were in the flight position. Sony support had me trying different sorta basic things for a week until I got fed up with it and returned to B&H for replacement.

3 Days later new drone here. Horrible and i mean HORRIBLE shake gone, but so far flying a 50mm is still producing unusable footage. Going to be doing more tests in the coming days, its difficult to really nail in your settings when you have 6-7 minutes of flight time to test things.

Thoughts so far? This is very much not a user friendly drone. Having to calibrate the GPS every flight which requires removing the gimbal is such a PITA as well.
If I can't get my 50mm to be smooth I have little hope for my 85mm which is one of my favorite things to shoot with on a drone.

Inspire 2 by comparison was out of the box together and delivering extremely cinematic footage within 20 mins on 85mm equiv focal length.

Oh and no there are no intelligent flight modes out of the box like DJI, as in no spotlight mode where you can track an object and the gimbal keep it in frame while you fly which is pretty much a deal breaker for solo only shooters.

I don't have anything really useful to share besides sorry for your experience, but FWIW, and if you keep it, give it a few months as the drone may still be in a beta form. Obviously shouldn't be if it's being sold but that's not the way it works anymore in the faster electronics world. Usually after a few FW versions products become much better, especially second and third iterations years later. Sony has a lot more money than DJI, but DJI has a lot more experience (with drones). Sometimes money can't buy the making of all good products because it's difficult to make good things.

If you are dissatisfied with this device, you should just try other models with good reviews. A drone isn't something you can learn quickly or find a model that will exactly fit your needs. When choosing a good drone model, I read reviews and all that on https://weflywithdrones.com. After all, I knew that I would see what I needed there because my friend recommended this site, and I wasn't mistaken. It helped me choose a good drone that I'm flying with even now. I don't think I will change it to another model soon because it's made qualitatively. I think you should also follow my example if you want to buy something good.
