Replacing udoor in a condo
Permalink

Hi all

I'm trying to replace my regular lock with a commercial-grade Yale mortise smart lock. The drill holes on the current door don't line up with the new lock—there'd be visible holes to patch, the new handle would fit weird, etc. So I need a new door.

Is there any particular type of door I need? Who would know, do I need to speak to just a contractor, or is this a building permit type thing? I want to make sure I get the right thing both for personal security, and also so it's not an issue at resale etc

Thanks for any advice

What is the door material?

Smart locks have a lot of drawbacks and are complicated to install. You say you care about security and protection. In my opinion, smart locks are designed for beauty, not for security.

I don't think changing the door is the contractor's concern.

There are so many locksmiths on the market that you don't have to bother anyone. As an option, check mill hill locksmith with highly professional locksmiths. They offer a wide variety of services: commercial, local, emergency, and domestic locksmiths. On their website, I see they deal with new lock installation, broken doors, and home security.

Good luck!
