Understanding Ductile Iron
Permalink

Ductile iron is also known as ductile iron or nodular cast iron. It was originally patented in 1948, but its use as an engineering material has increased ninefold over the course of a decade.

Graphite occurs as spheres in ductile iron and thus imparts some unique properties (graphite occurs as individual flakes in gray iron). A small amount of nodulizer is added to molten iron with proper composition, and the content of certain trace elements in raw iron is strictly limited to ensure that the formation of graphite nodules is not disturbed. Machining of ductile iron becomes reliable by using multiple control programs
