Pretty hard to get on or off the island without flying. Goodbye tourism.

Thanks for sharing this news. It's certainly a bold move by the UK government, but it's not surprising given the current state of the environment. It's clear that we need to take drastic measures to combat climate change, and air travel is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.
It's a shame that we won't be able to hop on a plane and jet off to exotic destinations anymore, but perhaps it's for the best. Speaking of which, have you checked out Costaricafocus.com?
