I just came across this mind-blowing discovery about a Roman soldier's payslip from a 1,900-year-old Roman Empire camp in Israel. Can you believe it? The soldier, Gaius Messius, received 50 denarii after the Siege of Masada. But here's the twist: the payslip revealed that his stipend was significantly reduced due to military deductions.
