Design of 15 ton overhead crane for Pakistani customers

Overhead cranes are widely used in various factories, and coking plants, as a relatively special workplace, have very high requirements for crane performance. As a Chinese crane supplier that provides all kinds of crane equipment to the world, we are very aware of the challenges faced in designing and manufacturing overhead cranes for coking plants. Today we share a case of a 15 ton overhead crane designed for a coking plant in Pakistan.

Pakistan Overhead Crane Main Parameters

  • Lifting weight: 15 tons
  • Lifting height: 9 meters
  • Span: 10 meters
  • Voltage: 380/3/50

Key Points of Designing Overhead Cranes for Coking Plants

We know that coke production equipment is always running. This type of equipment has short maintenance intervals and tight overhaul times, and any failure of the coking crane will affect production time and pose a safety hazard to the technicians. This is why all coking cranes must be able to withstand the toughest conditions.

Drum and rope features

Our cranes use a very high drum-to-pulley ratio of 30:1, compared to a standard drum-to-pulley ratio of only 24:1. The large size of the drum reduces the sharpness of the arc around the drum, which in turn reduces the stress on the wire rope. This innovative rope loading system is expected to extend the service life of wire ropes by up to 40%*, thereby significantly reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Wire rope overwind protection device

All our coking cranes are equipped with built-in overwind protection. In the event of an accidental load drop, the safety device prevents the wire rope from winding in the opposite direction on the drum.

Wire rope storage

Some wire ropes will be damaged after continuous use. On our coking cranes, we have tripled the extra wire rope space, in this way you can directly remove the damaged wire rope and reinstall it with triple the wire rope, saving not only your time but also costs .

High durability bearings, gears and accessories

Our crane bearings have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, far exceeding standard crane bearings. All gears are made of carburized material with a Rockwell hardness of 58 and the tooth surfaces are finely ground to at least AGMA Grade 11. Our gears are carburized so they are strong enough to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use, even permanent use. To facilitate maintenance and lubrication of accessories, we have grouped them so that all lubrication is done through a single lubrication point.

Reel Load Weigher with Summing Function

To prevent overloading or unbalanced loads, we have a load weigher with load weight summation on each reel. The precise weight of the load is detected by a laser and, if necessary, even weight compensation is performed by using multiple wire ropes or multiple hooks.
