I've got an exterior commercial door at a hotel that has a bit of an issue. Door swings out. LCN Closer, Metal door. When its windy the door will slam shut. When its not windy the door won't close all the way sometimes.
What I mean is, if I adjust the closer to close nicely when its calm out, than when it's windy out the door will slam shut. If I adjust the door to close nicely when it's windy out, than the door will not close completely when it's calm out.
It's a 50/50 if it'll be windy or not, this is next to an airport with a large open field.
Any ideas on how I can get this door to shut properly/consistently whether its windy or not? I've tried all sort of adjustment combinations and that's not cutting it.
Sounds like a tricky situation with your exterior commercial door! Since you've tried various adjustment combinations without success, you might want to consider a few other options. First, check the weatherstripping around the door and ensure it's in good condition. A worn-out weatherstrip can prevent the door from sealing properly, especially in windy conditions. Second, consider installing a door sweep or bottom seal to help the door seal more effectively against the threshold. This can prevent drafts and reduce the likelihood of the door slamming shut in windy conditions.
