Hi everyone, I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give on what to have in place when going to the public to sell furniture (outdoor primarily). For example, I want to set up an LLC to protect my personal assets - any advice on who to use? Or has anyone had better luck with a local small business attorney? Another thing that I’d really like to have in place (if possible) is some sort of waive of liability for any and all products that I build. The concern of being sued is the one thing that deters me from wanting to sell publicly but if there’s a valid way to have a customer sign that they will not pursue any legal action against me, that would be great and would allow me to enjoy the production so much more. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and if you have any advice, I would love to read what you have to offer. Thanks!
From what I’ve gathered, setting up an LLC is definitely a smart move to protect your personal assets. There are online services like LegalZoom and IncFile that make it pretty straightforward, but I’ve also heard good things about working with a local small business attorney for more personalized advice. As for the waiver of liability, that’s a great idea! It's crucial to have something in place to protect yourself. You might want to look into having a professional draft it to make sure it's ironclad. While waivers can't cover everything, they can certainly add a layer of protection and give you some peace of mind. I’ve been thinking about the future too, like what if I want to sell my business down the line? Having everything set up correctly from the start is key.
