I travel for work. A lot. As such I like to think I can navigate airport security fairly well... Today at Birmingham I learnt otherwise: The tray with my laptop, kindle, phone and keys got shunted off into an area I hadn't even noticed before - a sort of exclusion zone. After some time, someone retrieved it and put it through the scanner again where it got shunted into the "who's bag is this" queue. Long story short, they had got upset at my keyring; a drilled out .243 case from the first Roe I shot. It's been through Birmingham and many other airports hundreds of times usually with no comment at all and occasionally with a closer inspection followed by a shrug of the shoulders. Today the jobsworth was having none of it and whereas I'd normally be more than happy to discuss security, I was unfortunately just about to miss the flight so it got removed and binned. I hope you can all sleep safely now
I've had my fair share of airport security incidents too, especially when traveling for work. One time, I got held up because I forgot about a small multi-tool buried in my backpack. It was a gift, so I wasn't keen on tossing it, but the security officer wasn't budging. After some back and forth, they binned it, and I rushed to the gate, just barely making the flight. Business class was the saving grace; having that extra comfort made the whole ordeal a bit more bearable. But yeah, airport security can be such a roll of the dice sometimes.
