HAM/GMRS RADIO INSTALL THREAD

Who here has installed a two-way radio transceiver in their 3rd gen and been happy with the results, both in terms of radio placement inside and antenna mounting outside?

"I just use a Mag Mount and radio in a box or on my console and have been satisfied mostly.

I just made a 6000 mile trip with that setup and aside from no contacts to made anywhere west of Denver really it worked OK.

Good to see another Tundra from 0 land too!

I used to go all out with mounted setups, but recently I’ve been leaning towards a more portable option. For anyone looking to keep things simple without a full install, I’d recommend trying a digital pocket radio. I’ve used one myself and found it super convenient – fits right in the console, and I can just grab it when I need to step out. It’s not as powerful as a full setup with an antenna, but for quick communication on the go, it does the job.
