I'm flying to FL to deliver my son his clay target shotguns and to deliver a "handgun starter pack". Here is my list of to do's please comment if I missed something
Direct flight to destination Print out airline regulations from their website and bring it Arrive 2.5 hour before takeoff pay $50 for "fast track" luggage check in weigh and confirm both cases are below 50 lb limit use TSA approved cases, airline says max 2 shotguns per case and 4 handguns per second case have TSA approved combo locks print out model and serial number of all firearms and bring it tape 4x6 banner with name, address and phone number to each case attach airtags to outside of both cases in "secure" airtag luggage device, airtags do not work inside of cases drop a few business cards in gun cases bring FBI and ATF local numbers at destination in case of funny business no ammo anywhere
What else? Paranoid answers appreciated, thanks in advance. The shipping costs I got made it cheaper for a round trip ticket.
From my experience, staying chill and acting like it’s no big deal really makes a difference. TSA and airline staff are usually fine as long as you know the rules and stay polite. I’ve flown with firearms a few times, and having everything ready—like the declaration card and printed rules—keeps things running smooth.
When I’ve flown business class for trips like this, the extra baggage allowance and faster check-in lines have been a huge help.
