Are Consumption Mutual Funds the Next Big Thing in Disruptive Investments?

Hey everyone,

Lately, I’ve been digging into Consumption mutual funds as a potential new direction in my portfolio. Around the same time, I came across the axis consumption fund, and it really got me thinking—are we looking at the next big wave in mutual fund investments?

We often talk about tech, energy, and pharma when we discuss disruptive investments. But what about the changing consumption patterns of the average Indian? Post-pandemic trends, rising incomes, and shifting lifestyles are pushing sectors like FMCG, retail, autos, and e-commerce into overdrive. This is exactly where consumption-focused funds step in.

For anyone not aware, the axis consumption fund is one of the key players in this space. It targets companies that benefit directly from domestic consumption trends. What I like is its focused approach—less diversification but high conviction in strong, growth-oriented sectors.

Now, when I looked at the axis consumption fund NAV, it’s been relatively stable with promising growth in the medium-to-long term. It may not shoot up like a small-cap tech fund overnight, but that’s not the point here. The idea is steady growth tied to how people live, shop, travel, and spend—basically, stuff we can see around us every day.

Also, if you're into SIPs like me, this could be a strong contender for your Best SIP shortlists. A monthly SIP in this fund could align well with long-term goals, especially if you believe in India’s consumption story.

Has anyone here already invested in any Consumption mutual funds? Or maybe specifically the axis consumption fund? I’d love to hear your thoughts, reviews, or even concerns.

Is this trend really disruptive enough to consider shifting some weight in your portfolio? Or just another short-term hype?

Let’s make this a detailed thread—drop your insights, returns, experiences, or even SIP strategies you’re trying out.

Looking forward to some deep takes and smart debates.
