Ocean Colonization, Enlightenment, Industrial Revolution, Frontiers, Freedom, Lessons from History.

  • Do we need kings?
  • Can people govern themselves?
  • What rights do we all have?
  • Can science and understanding uplift all of humanity?

Basic questions of the Enlightenment - back on the table again in new forms...

Do we need banks and state controlled fiat currencies (paypal bitcoin), do we need governments to interfere in our lifes to the extent as they do, do we need states controlling economic activities,  is a much broader and direct internet democracy feasible?,  what happend with the UN guaranteed right to "no interference" what happend to out privacy rights, why do we NOT have all the technical progress expected to be in place for the 21st century - is redtaping and interference the reason? Where would medic science be if FDA would not interfere as it does. Where would spaceflight be if not run by government agencies. Do we need new frontiers that allow progress outside of "redtaping hell" ? Ist the quest for a "new land of the free" iminent. Can ocean colonization provide a model for space colonies?

1700-1900: Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution
Do we need kings? Can people govern themselves? What rights do we all have? Can science and understanding uplift all of humanity?

This topic lays the foundation for our modern thinking about the world. From democratic revolutions to the establishment of empires backed by industrial power.
——
What common ground does the seasteading movement share with the “Historic movement of Enlightenment” ?

- start as a “cultural movement of intellectuals”.
- emphasizing reason and individualism.
- break traditon, scolastics, ruleworks challenges to the dogma and authority.
- new ideas about government culture, politics.
- emphasis on Science and technology.
- triggering of a new industrial revolution.
- introducing of new perspectives.
- driven and enabled by information technology (printing press then – internet now).
- driven by frontier development (america then – ocean now).
- quest for freedom.
- quest for space (intelectual and physical)

…. and the list goes on and on…

Simon Bolivar

Enlightenment ideals also influenced Simon Bolivar, a wealthy South American plantation owner, who became committed to freeing the region from Spanish control. Bolivar, who like Benjamin Franklin traveled widely in European Enlightenment circles, sought to adapt Enlightenment ideas to the particular situation of the South American colonies. Bolivar did not trust the masses to rule, and in any case he believed that the class and racial divisions between Europeans, Native Americans, and blacks in South America would doom republican-style governments to failure. Instead, he chose a combination of representative government and authoritarian leadership — which in turn created a unique social and political landscape in South America.

global investors radar map

Global investors business opportunity map…CIVETS nations “fast growing emerging economies” around the globe.

Global investors business headquarters, to attend business everywhere it comes up. Yachts have gone beyond “luxury pleasure boating” those people live permanently on the ocean, travel worldwide, subdue to no government, offshore their assets, in short – run global empires living on their seasteads – and there is not much what “land nations” with their “politicians” their “flags”, their “borders”, their “rulings” and “sovereignty” can do about it – not happening ten years from now – happening already. Seasteading does not need to be “kicked off” it only needs to be “made available for less exclusive society segments on a broader scale”.
In this context check why “authority structures” of all kind tend to “fall apart” in the next years…

Many things that we take for given will fall apart soon, among those “state control over business” companies as we know them now, with fixed production sites and employees, rulings applieable to a fixed collective of people “type citicens” that can NOT opt in/out, fiat currencies, banks, bank accounts, political parties… hopefully this transitions will be peaceful as it was the case with the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of national currencies in Europe and the fall of Maoism in China. Like “data transfer over computer networks” was with us, long before we realized its social signifficance and started talking about INTERNET all those “second wave things comming in at lightning speed” are “already here” if we know where to look at…this is the “most transformative decade” in the history of humanity – it is global and it is oceanic – do we realize that?

... and we still need to speed up deregulation to get more progress to achieve sustainability on the planet.

“Politics is about interfering with other people’s lives without their consent.” – Peter Thiel

“It is up to those in charge to empower their employees, not rule over them” – Richard Branson

Things are going to be much more “base democratic”, “less authoritarian”, much more “opt in/out” and less “obligation”, much more “multinational” and “multicultural” less “national” and “territorial” much less “tax” and more “voluntary contribution” much more “voluntary social agreement” than “legal obligation”. Much more “cooperation cluster” than “power structure”…all – “…ism things” speak, capitalism, communism, autoritarism, are trending to the “trash basket” of history. Their “base reason of existance” the “scale problem of human interaction” and the split “WE against THEM” is quickly eroded by modern technology allowing universal, frontierless, and uncontrolable communication…

We live on a oceanic planet 70% of the surface is water. 99% of the space volume available for human activities is water. Human activities as they are at the moment (6 billion humans get food from agriculture ) are not sustainable (agriculture areas need to be cut back to avoid mass extincion of species to continue) Fishing of wildstock in the oceans is in free fall. In the next 30 years another 3 billion humans will be added to the human headcount. There is no agriculture area on land that can possibly produce the food that is needed. The only thing that can be be applied in the giant scale necessary with low a ambient impact, that can replace agriculture, and absorb 3 billion additional people to feed, is aquaculture in the open ocean taking advantage of that 99% of planetary volume that is “not used yet” at the moment. This is the “quest of titanic proportions” of “feeding the world”, Neil Sims and his coworkers have opened with their ocean farming technology. We are at CERO now and we need to get to “ocean food for 9 billion” in less than 30 years to come. This is not a choice it is a survivl need. This “giant marine business comming in” should be worth some investor attention, some discussion on the forums i assume…and it will definitly lead to ocean colonization and permanent living on the ocean, beyond oceanic transport.

World population growing 1 billon per decade…Graph from ice age to modern times. If we do not unleash the agricultural power of the ocean in the next few years human development on earth becomes unsustainable…only ocean drift cages are a technology at reach that can get us there…

This is how 99% of the “space volume available to human activity” looks like. In 30 years from now we have 9 billion people – land based resources on the continents can only sustain some 4 billion of them. The “rest” of 5 billion need to cover their nutrition needs, their housing needs, and the production needs for their laptops and consumer goods entirely in this “currently not touched space”. Sounds strange ? it is inevitable.

Only the nutrition of those 5 billion overflow population that can not be placed on the continents will require a “oceanic meat/fish industry” that produces 500 billion kg of meat/fish per year. To wrap your head around the number this is hundred million ship loads full of fish…per YEAR !!! all this industry needs to pop up in the next years to avoid starvation. This is a heck of an industry that surley will lead to some kind of permanent settlement on the oceans…

Aquaculture towns at sea picture it something like that…
A “thousands of shiploads per day industry” does not only create an industry for building the cages, it creates an industry for distribution of the product (a additional branch of oceanic transport) it creates an industry for building the ships that will transport that fish, and certainly it creates a building industry for building the houses on the ocean the workers that run that that business will live in…so it will create “aquaculture towns” at sea there is just no way around it…

Marine construction business. 5 billion humans will need real estate squaremeters at sea in the next 30 years as there is no development space left in land cities…
This mean that the equivalent of 780.000 Empire state buildings needs to be built at sea. 26.000 Empire State Building per year…every year…in the next 30 years.

Models for protected Bays:

To accomodate this demand of housing space, fabrication sites on the ocean need to be established that crank out housing space in a rate of a family houses per day – possible models…
